Position Summary:


Do you love the culinary field ? Join our team as a Chef-Cook!! As a Chef-Cook, you are responsible for assisting with the overall function and production of the back of house.  Responsibilities include assisting in any way with the production team, maintaining current recipes and production while being innovative and creating new menu items, producing our Deli items in a timely manner and ensuring that only the highest quality item are served to our guests. In order to succeed in this position you must have previous food service experience, good organizational skills, an understanding of our guests' needs, work well with others, promote teamwork and communicate well with team members and guests. Our Deli is unlike any Deli you have seen before. You will have the opportunity to smoke a variety of dishes, work our Work station, learn the secrets of how to make our famous lunch and dinner specials, prep an assortment of ingredients and salads, slice fresh meats and cheeses for our panini's and so much more. Primary Position Duties:

 
  • Develop maximum customer relations through a friendly and courteous behavior.
  • Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.
  • Provides a safe, clean and positive environment; and consistently builds and supports a culture that is based on relationships and continuous improvement.
  • Has knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, programs and directives.  Refers to Team Member Handbook continually to ensure policies and procedures are followed.  Promotes a harassment-free environment, and immediately reports any potential harmful situation to management. 
  • Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department and store through training and education of self and other team members.
  • Attends departmental, store and company meetings as required; contributes to profits and revenues and meets productivity standards.
  • Establishes and monitors team member work schedules within the department.
  • Instructs and teaches others all fundamentals of the Service Deli Department operation.  This includes guest services, product preparation, packaging, etc.
  • Maintains proper freshness, pricing, code dating, tare and merchandising of the product in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Helps maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times.
  • Maintains an awareness of competitive activity with the store marketing areas.
  • Helps maintain product and cost control in conjunction with company objectives to maximize department sales and profits and minimize losses.
  • Provides professional example for other store team members to follow. Maintains effective control of department inventory through proper ordering, by guarding against waste and pilferage and maintaining adequate and appropriate department records.  Maintains adequate supplies for department's needs.
  • Maintains effective control of product quality by continual monitoring of product appearance and maintaining proper stock rotation.
 

Position Requirements:

 
  • Experience: Previous deli or restaurant experience required.
  • Minimum Age: 18 Years of age.
  • Lifting Requirements:  Ability to lift 30+ pounds
  • Equipment: Cash register, fryer, slicer, wrapper, presser, two- wheeler, box cutter, etc.          
  • Physical Abilities: Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, twist, and bend; repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl.  Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting.  Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders required.        
  • Communication: Ability to write, speak, hear and understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members and guests.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
 

Education or Skills:


High School diploma or GED; or related job experience and/or training are required.
